This is intended to be a practical optimization guide. In general, it should avoid blatantly broken combinations (or not rate them highly). However some builds are very very strong... so there is no promise your DM won't hate you if you show up with a Crit Fisherman.

Role: Striker Edit
The job of the striker is to do damage to the right opponent at the right time. The avenger does this by having high mobility and very high accuracy, but the Avenger's spike damage is typically smaller than other strikers.
Your oath of Enmity power is your striker class feature. It's a great class feature. You get two chances to hit, two chances to crit. You want to use it with every single attack.
Now, avengers will not compete with Hero of Faith Rangers for DPR ... but they work at-par levels with little or no work, and can beat almost anyone else at DPR with a little work (Half-Elf or Reventant Half-Elf).
You have powers that allow you to walk through walls and attack. Powers that let you teleport and attack. Powers that let you teleport your target after the attack. About the only thing you're missing is a good "move+attack" at will power, and instead you have a good "attack+move+move target" at will. You've got plenty of mobility. (Did I mention walking through walls?)
Spike Damage Edit
Traditionally, Avengers have been very shy of the ability to inflict large amounts of damage in a short time frame, but Divine Power has helped out by giving a couple of off-action attack powers. Also two of the available Centures (Retribution and Unity) can give large static damage modifiers that can then be turned into spike damage by any form of multi-attack, including granted attacks from a Warlord.
